Integration + Commissioning

"Commissioning" is a word that tends to induce a collective groan in any construction trailer. It is the crucible where schedules—and relationships—are either forged or fractured.

In the SCADA world, this friction often stems from the "Remote Commissioning" trap. Vendors under-bid their field time, and when physical issues arise—like fiber patching or network configuration—they retreat behind "not my scope" clauses and lack of availability. They might verify that their hardware is powered up and talking, but when the inverters, trackers, or MET stations fail to communicate, support stops cold. The EPC is left abandoned, facing delays that cost far more than the SCADA contract itself.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Owner meetings have a drastically different tone when the next steps for troubleshooting issues are “our boots are on the ground today” instead of “we’ve asked the vendor for their availability for another mobilization”. We know that the SCADA system isn't working until the entire plant is communicating, from the substation to the smallest sensor. With support from Ascent, EPCs and developers empower themselves with self-reliance and a trusted escalation path to SMEs.

Some OEMs—particularly in the BESS/EMS space—build products that are rigid, developed for a specific market, and sold far beyond their original intent. They are often frozen in a state of "it is what it is," and no amount of pressure or incentive will make the vendor adapt. This is where Ascent shines. We build the logic bridges that adapt inflexible products to meet the project's needs.
